Accurate Hearing will be raising awareness of Alzheimer\u2019s disease, the importance of early diagnosis, the relationship between Alzheimer\u2019s and hearing loss, and the importance of addressing hearing loss in people with Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n<h2>The Relationship Between Untreated Hearing Loss and Alzheimer&#8217;s disease<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1421\" src=\"https:\/\/accuratehearingsystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/alzheimers1-300x251.jpg\" alt=\"untreated hearing loss and alzheimers\" width=\"600\" height=\"503\" srcset=\"https:\/\/accuratehearingsystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/alzheimers1-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/accuratehearingsystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/alzheimers1-768x644.jpg 768w, https:\/\/accuratehearingsystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/alzheimers1-100x84.jpg 100w, https:\/\/accuratehearingsystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/alzheimers1.jpg 940w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Many families in our community are coping with Alzheimer\u2019s and the challenges it presents. We want to help ensure that the hearing health of those in our community with Alzheimer\u2019s is appropriately managed. Hearing loss, when left unaddressed, can compound the difficulties that people with Alzheimer\u2019s and their families already face. In many cases, the appropriate use of <a href=\"https:\/\/accuratehearingsystems.com\/hearing-aids-molds\/starkey-hearing-aids-anchorage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hearing aids<\/a> can benefit those who suffer with with hearing loss, including Alzheimer patients and their caregivers.<\/p>\n<p>There is strong evidence that hearing impairment contributes to the progression of cognitive dysfunction in older adults. Unmanaged hearing loss can interrupt the cognitive processing of spoken language and sound, regardless of other coexisting conditions. When an individual has both untreated hearing loss and Alzheimer\u2019s, many of the symptoms of hearing loss can interact with those common to Alzheimer\u2019s. This can make the disease more difficult than it might be if the hearing loss had been addressed.<\/p>\n<p>Studies have shown that although a significantly higher percentage of people with Alzheimer\u2019s disease may have hearing loss compared to their normally aging peers, they are much less likely to receive attention for their hearing needs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cA comprehensive hearing assessment should be part of any medical evaluation prior to the evaluation of dementia. \u201cBy addressing the hearing loss, we can move toward a more accurate diagnosis, improve quality-of-life for those who have Alzheimer\u2019s, and help them live as fully as possible.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Numerous studies have linked untreated hearing loss to a wide range of physical and emotional conditions. &nbsp;These conditions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>impaired memory and ability to learn new tasks<\/li>\n<li>reduced alertness<\/li>\n<li>increased risk to personal safety<\/li>\n<li>irritability<\/li>\n<li>negativism<\/li>\n<li>anger<\/li>\n<li>fatigue<\/li>\n<li>tension<\/li>\n<li>stress<\/li>\n<li>depression<\/li>\n<li>diminished psychological and overall health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Treat Hearing Health Early to Avoid Problems in the Future<\/h2>\n<p>Here at Accurate Hearing, we urge caregivers of people with Alzheimer\u2019s to also address their hearing health.
